I get what you mean about the old glass—mine’s from the 30s and has that same wavy look. I ended up keeping most of my originals and just added exterior storms a couple years ago. Not as airtight as new windows, but it cut down on drafts way more than I expected. Plus, storms are way cheaper and you don’t have to mess with the trim or hardware. Only downside is cleaning between the panes gets annoying, but I’ll take that over losing the character.
