Finally beat the icy drafts sneaking through my windows
I've had mixed results with thermal curtains myself. They definitely help, but I found that pairing them with weatherstripping around the window frames made a bigger difference overall. The adhesive foam strips are pretty straightforward to install and seem to hold up better than the shrink-wrap tape fiasco you mentioned (been there...). Have you considered giving weatherstripping a try, or is there something about your windows that makes it tricky?
