Last night, around 2 am, I woke up to this creepy squeaking sound. Thought for sure my place was haunted or something, you know, like in those cheesy horror movies. Turns out it's just my bedroom window tracks making this awful noise whenever the wind picks up. I tried spraying some WD-40 on it, but it didn't really help much—just made a greasy mess.

I'm thinking maybe silicone spray or graphite powder might work better? But honestly, I'm not sure which one would be less messy or last longer. Anyone else had this issue? Or maybe you have a better idea? I'm open to suggestions because I really don't wanna wake up thinking there's a ghost trying to break in again, lol.

WD-40 isn't really meant for window tracks—it's more of a water-displacing agent than a long-term lubricant. Silicone spray might work better, but graphite powder can get messy too, especially if you have carpets or curtains nearby. Have you considered just cleaning the tracks thoroughly first? Dirt and debris buildup can cause friction and squeaking. I had similar issues when I first moved into my place, and a good cleaning plus some silicone grease (not spray) solved it permanently... might be worth a try.

Had the same issue last summer... cleaned out all the gunk first, then applied a bit of silicone grease. Worked wonders, and no mess on the curtains either. WD-40 just didn't cut it for me long-term.
