Only downside for me was the look; modern frames don’t quite match the old trim, even with retrofits.
I get the energy savings, but has anyone else run into issues with how airtight these new windows are? After swapping mine out, I started noticing the house felt a bit “stuffy,” especially in winter. The old wood sashes used to leak just enough that I never thought about indoor air quality. Now I’m considering adding trickle vents or something to balance it out. Anyone else feel like it’s a tradeoff—lower bills but maybe not quite the same fresh air?
