Been looking into replacing the windows in my house lately, and I'm kinda stuck between going for those Energy Star-rated ones or just regular windows. The Energy Star ones are supposed to save you money on heating and cooling bills, but they're also pricier upfront. I mean, I get itβbetter insulation, less heat loss, all that good stuffβbut does it actually make a noticeable difference in your monthly bills?
My neighbor swears by them, says his house feels way more comfortable now and he's saving money. But then again, my cousin installed regular windows a few years back and says he hasn't noticed any real issues or crazy high bills or anything.
I'm leaning towards the energy-efficient ones just because it seems like the responsible thing to do environmentally, you know? But if the savings aren't really noticeable, maybe it's not worth the extra cost.
Anyone here have experience with both types? Curious what you went with and if you'd do it again.
I've had energy-efficient windows for about 8 years now, and while they do help with drafts and comfort, the monthly savings weren't exactly dramatic. Maybe it depends on your climate or insulation elsewhere in the house...have you checked your attic insulation lately?
