How much should I clean out a window’s weep openings?
If a weep opening looks clogged, is gentle rinsing enough to clear surface debris, or is it better not to put anything into the opening at all? I’m unsure where routine cleaning ends and probing risks disturbing an internal baffle or changing the drainage path.
Does it make a difference whether the openings are accessible from inside or outside, and what the debris looks like? I’d also like to know how you tell ordinary water in the track after rain from a blockage that needs attention. What cleaning methods do window manufacturers generally allow, and when is it time to ask a window professional rather than keep cleaning?
