Thinking about upgrading to smart windows—anyone tried View vs SageGlass?

Fair point about integrations, but honestly, after installing View windows last year, I've rarely missed broader compatibility. The built-in app handles scheduling and manual adjustments smoothly enough for everyday use. If your main goal is convenience rather than deep customization, the integration limits might not be a significant issue. SageGlass sounds great for tinkerers, but for practical daily use, View's simplicity has been more than sufficient in my experience...

Fair enough, simplicity definitely has its perks—especially when you just want things to work without fuss. But having installed both View and SageGlass systems for clients, I've gotta say, the extra customization in SageGlass isn't just for tech enthusiasts or hobbyists. It can genuinely make a difference in comfort and energy efficiency if you're willing to spend a little time tweaking settings.

For example, one client initially went with View windows and liked the ease of use, but later switched to SageGlass in their sunroom because they wanted more precise control over glare and heat at different times of day. The difference was noticeable enough that they joked about finally being able to enjoy their coffee without sunglasses indoors...

Of course, everyone's mileage varies. If you're happy with a set-it-and-forget-it approach, View is solid. But if you're investing in smart windows anyway, why not get the most out of them?

That's interesting, but honestly, most of my clients who chose SageGlass weren't really into tech at all—they just appreciated the comfort boost. A bit more setup initially, sure, but afterward it's pretty hands-off and intuitive...not much tinkering needed day-to-day.

Interesting perspective—I agree SageGlass can be pretty intuitive once it's set up. Still, I've noticed some of my clients lean toward View because they prefer the more detailed analytics and proactive support it offers. Not everyone cares about data, sure, but having access to detailed usage patterns can really help fine-tune energy efficiency long-term. Guess it depends if you're more into a 'set and forget' approach or if you like having that extra layer of insight available...

Good points about the analytics. I'm a bit of a data nerd myself, so View's detailed usage reports caught my eye at first. But honestly, after setting up SageGlass at our place, I realized I don't really check the data as much as I thought I would—life gets busy, you know? As long as it keeps the house comfortable and saves energy, I'm happy. Guess it depends how much you actually plan to dig into those analytics...

Yeah, I get what you're saying—analytics sound great in theory, but how often do we really dive into them? When I first got my smart thermostat, I was all about checking the usage reports, tweaking settings, and all that. But after a couple months, I barely glanced at it. As long as the windows are doing their job, maybe detailed data isn't such a big deal? Sounds like you made a practical choice. Did you notice a big difference in comfort right away, or was it more gradual?

Yeah, that's exactly how it went for me too with my thermostat. But honestly, windows feel a bit different. Installed some SageGlass windows for a client a while back, and the comfort difference was noticeable pretty quickly—especially in rooms with direct sunlight. Analytics aside, the real benefit was how evenly they kept temperatures throughout the day. Did you end up noticing any uneven heating or glare issues with your current setup?

That's interesting, because uneven temps have been my main gripe lately. Our living room gets blasted with afternoon sun, and even with blinds down, it's noticeably warmer than the rest of the house. I've been considering smart windows to help balance things out... did your client mention if SageGlass helped much with energy bills, or was it mostly about comfort?

We had a similar issue in our family room—big windows facing west, and afternoons were brutal even with heavy curtains. We ended up installing SageGlass about a year ago. Comfort-wise, it's been a huge improvement; the room feels consistently comfortable now. Energy bill savings weren't massive, but we did notice a modest drop during peak summer months. If your main goal is balancing temps and improving comfort, I'd say it's definitely worth considering...

We went with View glass about two years back—similar setup, west-facing windows making afternoons unbearable. Here's my quick take:

- Comfort improved noticeably, no more oven-like afternoons.
- Energy savings were minimal, but honestly, comfort was our main goal anyway.
- App and controls are intuitive; haven't had any tech headaches yet.
- Can't directly compare to SageGlass since we didn't try it, but View has been solid for us.

Either way, smart glass is a definite upgrade from heavy curtains or blinds...worth it imo.
