I just stumbled across this random fact that some window sensors can actually tell the difference between a window being fully open, partially open, or just tilted. Like, they don't just sense open or closed anymore—they're getting smarter. Kinda neat, but also a little creepy if you think about it too much, haha. Anyone else heard about these or have them installed? Curious if they're actually useful or just another gimmick.

I've seen these around, and honestly, my first thought was: do I really need my windows to be THAT smart? I guess it could help if you're forgetful about leaving windows cracked open when it rains (been there, done that...), but beyond that, I'm not sure how much practical value they add. Anyone here actually found them useful for something specific, or is it just tech for tech's sake?

Yeah, that's definitely one practical use I've seen. Also worth mentioning:

- Security: Knowing remotely if a window's left open can be handy if you're away from home often.
- Energy efficiency: Some systems integrate with thermostats to alert you if windows are open while heating or cooling is running—saves money in the long run.
- Insurance claims: Had a client whose smart window sensors helped prove a break-in happened through an unlocked window.

Not essential for everyone, but they're more than just gimmicks.

Yeah, the rain thing hits home for me too—nothing like coming back to a soaked carpet. But do you think the security angle might make people a bit paranoid? Like, constantly checking their phone to see if they remembered to close everything? Still, gotta admit, proving a break-in through unlocked windows is pretty clever. Might even convince my insurance company I'm not just scatterbrained...

I get the paranoia angle, but honestly, I think after a while you'd just get used to it. Like when I first got a smart thermostat, I was checking the app constantly, but now I barely think about it. Still, I'm not totally sold on these window sensors yet—seems like one more thing that could glitch out or need troubleshooting. Maybe useful, but I'm not rushing out to buy them anytime soon...
