If your windows could think for themselves, what would you want?

Last night I woke up at like 3 am because the wind picked up and was rattling my window blinds like crazy. Had to stumble out of bed half-asleep to close the window—totally killed my sleep. Got me thinking, wouldn't it be awesome if windows could just sense weather changes and automatically shut themselves? Or maybe even adjust tint depending on sunlight? Anyone else had these random window annoyances?

I've thought about this too, especially the auto-tinting thing. My bedroom faces east, and every summer morning around 5:30 am, the sun blasts through my window like a spotlight. I've tried blackout curtains, but they make the room feel stuffy and dark all day unless I constantly open and close them. If windows could automatically adjust their tint based on sunlight intensity or even time of day, that'd be a game changer.

But honestly, I'm not totally sold on windows closing themselves automatically—at least not without some kind of override or manual setting. Imagine you're airing out your room and step outside for a minute, then suddenly your window decides to shut itself because it senses a breeze or something... I'd rather have control over that myself. Maybe a notification or alert would be better than full automation? Just my two cents from dealing with overly "smart" home gadgets before...

I like the auto-tinting idea a lot—had a similar issue at my old place. East-facing window in the kitchen, and every morning making coffee felt like staring into the sun... literally. Tried window film, but then afternoons were too gloomy. Auto-tinting glass would've been perfect. Agree about windows closing themselves though; had a "smart" skylight once that decided rain was coming (it wasn't) and shut itself mid-summer BBQ smoke-out. Definitely prefer manual overrides or alerts instead of full automation.
