window replacement quotes—better to ask about warranty details or hidden fees?

I'm getting ready to replace some windows in my house and I've narrowed down to two companies. One gave me a really detailed breakdown of their warranty coverage, like exactly what's covered and for how long. The other was kinda vague on warranty but super clear about pricing and potential extra fees. I'm leaning towards the warranty-focused one, but maybe I'm missing something important about hidden costs? Curious what others think matters more when comparing window quotes...

Warranty details are important, but I'd be cautious about assuming clarity there means no hidden fees. Sometimes companies emphasize warranties to distract from vague pricing structures. I'd double-check installation costs, disposal fees, or any potential upcharges before deciding...

Yeah, seen that happen plenty. Warranty's good to know, but honestly, hidden fees bite harder. Disposal and haul-away charges especially sneak up on folks. Had a client last month who got burned by surprise "custom sizing" fees—ridiculous. Best bet is always ask upfront about installation, disposal, and any extras. Saves headaches later.

I think you're onto something there. When I was getting quotes for my windows last spring, the warranty details were front and center, but the hidden fees were buried deep in the fine print. I almost missed the "haul-away" charge completely until I asked specifically if removal was included. Glad I did, because it would've added another couple hundred bucks to the total.

Yeah, custom sizing got me too. Turns out my older house didn't have standard window sizes (who knew?), and that bumped up the cost quite a bit. Definitely learned my lesson about assuming anything's included. Now, whenever I'm getting quotes for home projects, I make a habit of asking point-blank: "Is there anything else I should expect on the final invoice?" Seems to help cut through some of the confusion...
