Just found out that window replacement quotes can vary by hundreds or even thousands of dollars for basically the same thing. Apparently some companies bank on people not shopping around. Anyone else noticed this or got a story about crazy window quotes?
Yeah, I've seen this happen a lot. A couple years back, I was helping my parents replace their old windows, and the first quote we got was honestly shocking—almost double what we ended up paying. The sales guy tried to justify it with some vague talk about "premium materials" and "exclusive installation methods," but when I pressed him for specifics, he couldn't really explain what made his windows worth that much more.

One company quoted us a price that seemed suspiciously low (and their reviews weren't great), another was still high but at least reasonable, and the last one hit that sweet spot—good quality windows, clear explanations about materials and warranty, and a fair price.
