Honestly, reading all this makes me feel a lot more confident about my upcoming project. So many great pointers that I would have never thought of. Appreciate this crowd!
It's encouraging to see mostly positive outcomes here. I'm always worried with contractors, but clearly if you choose wisely (as many did with Karoly or Pro Tech), it can go really well.
It's been a year since I got my windows replaced and I have zero regrets. Everything everyone has said about the benefits is true. Lower bills, quieter home, and no issues at all so far. Maintenance has been just a quick wash here and there. They still look brand new.
Late to the party, but adding another thumbs up for Karoly Windows & Doors. They did my mom's house in St. Pete and she can't stop raving about how professional and quick they were. I'm now planning to use them for my own home next spring.
I also want to shout out Pro Tech Windows & Doors – they deserve the love they're getting here. They transformed our place in Dunedin. Even our neighbors noticed and asked for their info after seeing the quality of work.
During the last tropical storm, our new windows didn’t budge. No whistling wind, no rattling – just solid. In the past, my old windows made haunting sounds and I’d be freaked out all night. That peace of mind is priceless.
@ray_gonzalez @pfisher10 I was torn between Karoly and Pro Tech too after reading these, haha. It's like you can't go wrong with either. Great to hear more first-hand praise for both. I'll probably get quotes from both just to compare experience and price.
Side note: make sure to give your installers a good review if they do a great job. A lot of us found these companies through word of mouth or online reviews. I made sure to write a detailed positive review for mine, to "pay it forward" for the next homeowner.
Can confirm what many said: multiple quotes are a must. Each quote I got taught me something new (one pointed out wood rot, another explained energy ratings). Even if you have a favorite, hearing 2-3 opinions is valuable.
So happy to see a Tampa Bay specific thread. The conditions and codes here are unique, and this collective knowledge is just invaluable. I've taken notes on hurricane measures, permitting, and which companies to trust. Thank you all.
