How can buyers verify long-term window parts availability?
What should a buyer ask to get in writing about parts availability, and how specific should the answer be about the window series and its age?
I’d also like to know how people pin down the exact series and vintage when labels or paperwork are missing. Do parts requests usually go through the local dealer, or directly to the manufacturer? A clear process would make an unfamiliar brand easier to judge.

For identifying the exact series and vintage, check for etched glass markings, codes on the spacer bar between the panes, stamps on the hardware, and any scraps of a product label. Photograph whatever you find and send the images to the manufacturer or dealer. Those identifiers may help them match the window to catalog records and distinguish similar-looking series or revisions, which matters when confirming which replacement parts fit.
