How much bowing or looseness is normal in a window screen?
Discussion options
A screen that bows slightly, rattles in its opening, or has mesh pulling away at an edge may need only a small adjustment, but I’m unsure when those signs point to a damaged frame or a screen that should be rescreened.
What’s a good way to confirm the frame is seated properly and its corners are still square before trying a repair? If the frame is straight, can loose spline or torn mesh usually be replaced without changing the frame, and what cleaning methods avoid stretching the mesh? I’d rather not force a screen out or press on the frame in a way that bends it.
