- Hardware feeling cheaper is a common gripe with Elevate—seen it on a few installs.
- Trade-off seems worth it for the insulation and less upkeep, though.
- Curious if you noticed any condensation issues after swapping out? Sometimes the tighter seal changes things, especially in older homes.

Yeah, the Elevate hardware does feel a bit plasticky compared to the old Integrity stuff. I’ve swapped a bunch of them and the handles just don’t have that same “solid” snap. But you’re right, the trade-off’s there—less painting, better efficiency, and honestly, most folks forget about the hardware after a month or two unless it’s a total lemon.

About the condensation, I’ve seen it go both ways. On my own 1950s ranch, after switching to Elevate, we actually noticed less window sweat in winter. The tighter seal helps, but you’re spot on: the house needs to breathe somewhere. If you’ve got old insulation or a funky vapor barrier, sometimes that new tightness just pushes moisture to other cold spots—like in the corners or around outlets. Nothing wild so far, but worth checking your humidity if you suddenly see fogging where you didn’t before.

All in all, I wouldn’t lose sleep over the hardware feel unless you’re really picky. The energy savings and lack of scraping/painting every couple years is a win in my book.

I get what you’re saying about the hardware—

—but honestly, that “feel” matters to me every time I open a window. Maybe it’s just old habits, but I still notice the difference a year later. The energy savings are great, but sometimes I miss the heft and smooth action of the older Integrity handles. Guess it comes down to what bugs you more: repainting or a plasticky latch. For me, I’d still lean Integrity if you can find them, even if it means a little more upkeep.

Totally get that. I swapped out a few windows in our den last year, and even now I still catch myself fiddling with the new latches—they just don’t have that solid “click” the old ones did. The energy savings are nice, but there’s something about that tactile feel you can’t fake. If you don’t mind a bit of paint touch-up every couple years, I’d probably do the same as you and hunt down Integrity.

- Swapped out a few Integrity units in my 1960s split-level—honestly, the new ones feel lighter, but not in a good way.
- The old handles had that “chunky” feel, almost like closing a car door. Miss that.
- Paint touch-ups are annoying, but I’d trade that for the sturdier hardware.
- Energy efficiency is up, sure, but I do notice the latches feel cheaper.
- If you’re not picky about a few scuffs, the older style is hard to beat...
