I'm getting ready to replace some windows in my house, and the sales guy was talking about argon and krypton gas fills. He made it sound like krypton is way better but also pricier. Honestly, I didn't even know windows had gas in them until now, lol. Anyway, is there actually a noticeable difference between argon and krypton-filled windows? Like, can you actually feel or see a difference in insulation or energy bills, or is it just marketing hype? I'm all for spending a bit more if it genuinely helps, but I don't wanna throw money away on something that's just fancy-sounding. Anyone here have experience with both types or know if it's really worth the upgrade?
- Had argon windows put in a few years back—definitely noticed less draftiness, but energy bills didn't drop dramatically.
- Krypton's supposed to be better for thinner gaps, right? Maybe depends on your window style and climate...what type of windows are you getting?
