The towel trick totally saved me last winter—my dog ignores them, unlike the draft stoppers that became chew toys. I did swap out some old weatherstripping last month, and wow, what a difference. Quick, cheap, and you actually feel less of that cold air sneaking in. I’m with you on shrink film... too fussy for how often I crack a window. Has anyone tried those magnetic window covers? I’m curious if they’re any less annoying when you want fresh air.

- Tried the magnetic window covers last year. They’re definitely less hassle than shrink film if you open your windows a lot.
- They pop off pretty easy—sometimes too easy if you’ve got a drafty old frame.
- Not as airtight as shrink film, but way quicker to remove and put back.
- Price is a bit up there compared to just buying film or towels.
- If you’re after convenience over max insulation, they’re worth a shot. Otherwise, weatherstripping still gives you more bang for your buck.
