Picture this—middle of July, it’s 90° outside, and I’m trying to avoid turning on the AC because, you know, that bill is no joke. I’ve always wondered: if you’ve got ceiling fans going and you crack the windows at night when it’s “cooler,” are you actually making the room more comfortable, or just swirling around warm air? Sometimes it feels cooler, but other times it’s just… moving the same sticky air around.
I’m in an older house with windows that don’t seal great, so maybe that makes a difference? Or maybe I’m missing something about airflow direction (should the fan be pushing air up or down?)… Curious what y’all would do in that situation. Would you leave the fan running with windows open, or just pick one? Anyone swear by this method—or is it just wishful thinking?
