I’m honestly thrilled to see how this thread took off. Big thanks to each and every one of you for contributing your stories and tips – this has turned into exactly the resource I was hoping for (and then some!).
It’s reassuring to know I wasn’t alone in facing surprises, and I’ve learned a ton of new things myself (sea turtle glass – who knew?!). Thanks to @dobbyskier, @samjones592, @kevint70, @politics906 and so many others for sharing all the nitty-gritty details. I have no doubt future Tampa Bay window-replacers reading this will be far better prepared than we were at the start.

If there’s one theme that stands out, it’s the value of doing things the right way (permits, proper install, quality materials) and leaning on reputable local pros. I know for my next project, I’ll be vetting contractors carefully – sounds like folks have had great experiences with companies like Karoly Windows and ProTech Windoors, for example, who really know their stuff. Avoiding headaches is priceless.

Again, thank you all for making this such a valuable thread. This is why our community is the best – we learn from each other’s bumps in the road to make the journey smoother for the next person. Here’s to no more surprise window woes in Tampa Bay! 🙂
