My friend down in Apollo Beach did new windows and was raving about how quiet his house got, which got me interested. After reading all this, I'm sold. Gotta keep up with the quiet Joneses 😉.
I always thought my house was just "naturally noisy" because of thin walls or something. Never realized how much of it was actually the old windows. This thread has been an eye-opener (or ear-opener, haha). Definitely going to explore window replacements now. Thank you all!
It's funny, before reading this I mostly heard about window replacements for energy savings or hurricane protection. The noise reduction aspect is like the unsung hero benefit. For me, that would actually be the top reason now. Peace and quiet is a huge quality of life improvement. Thanks for shedding light on this, everyone!
True story: I used to actually wear earplugs in my own house sometimes because the street noise bothered me that much (especially if I wanted to read or concentrate). After getting new windows, I threw those earplugs in a drawer and haven't needed them since. 🎉
There's nothing like coming home from a noisy commute and stepping into your house and it's calm and quiet. New windows made that a reality for me. Before, home wasn't much of an escape from the city noise; now it is. 🙌
I second the recommendation for Karoly Windows & Doors. They did my windows in 2023 and I couldn't be happier. Professional team, and I immediately noticed the sound difference. My neighbor actually commented how he doesn't hear my TV anymore (I used to turn it up loud to cover outside noise 😅). Now I don't need to.
Jumping in to say I used ProTech Windows & Doors for my window replacements as well (in Palm Harbor). They were fantastic. It's been 2 years and my windows still look and perform like new. And yes, way quieter inside than before. I live near a busy intersection and it doesn't bother me anymore after the upgrade.
This discussion just convinced me to finally call a window company. I've been tolerating my noisy windows for years, but hearing everyone's success stories is the motivation I needed. Thank you all!
Following this thread eagerly. I have a similar issue and I'm soaking up all this info. Keep the experiences coming!
I can only imagine how peaceful it will be not to hear the constant leaf blower symphony every weekend. Can't wait to replace mine now. 😃
