need tips on getting rid of huge old windows without disaster
I've got these massive old windows in my living room, they're like floor-to-ceiling and probably weigh a ton. They're pretty outdated and drafty, so I wanna replace them with something more energy efficient. Problem is, I'm kinda nervous about taking them out myself - visions of shattered glass everywhere, you know? Anyone done this before or have any tips to avoid turning my living room into a disaster zone?

Yeah, those big old windows can be a real pain to deal with - been there myself. One thing that helped me was taping the glass with duct tape or painter's tape in a criss-cross pattern before removal. It won't stop the glass from breaking, but it keeps shards from flying everywhere if things go sideways. Also, having a buddy around to help steady things makes a huge difference. And don't underestimate how heavy those suckers can be...definitely have a plan for disposal ahead of time. Good luck!
