I'm not exactly a handyman, but I figured measuring windows for new blinds couldn't be THAT hard. Watched a couple of YouTube vids, scribbled down some numbers, and ordered these nice custom blinds online. They arrived yesterday, and I was pretty excited to finally ditch those dusty old curtains.
Well, let's just say things didn't go as planned. First window, I measured width perfectly...but height? Um, yeah, apparently I measured from the wrong spot and now the blinds are hanging awkwardly short. Looks like my windows are wearing flood pants now lol.
Second window, I thought I'd learned my lesson, so I triple-checked measurements. BUT somehow I still managed to mess up the width this time. Now the blinds are too wide by about half an inch and won't even fit inside the frame. Seriously, how do people get this right on the first try??
I mean, measuring tape seems straightforward enough, but apparently there's some secret wizardry involved here that I'm missing. Or maybe I'm just cursed when it comes to DIY stuff...
Anyway, now I'm stuck with these custom blinds that don't fit right and feeling pretty dumb about it. Has anyone else had a similar experience with window measurements or am I just uniquely talented at messing this up?
