My apartment windows are pretty old and drafty, and I'm starting to feel the chill creeping in now that temps are dropping. Last winter was brutal (I swear I could feel a breeze INSIDE my living room, lol). Anyway, I'm looking for some budget-friendly ways to insulate or seal them up better. I've heard about bubble wrap and plastic film kits but never tried them myself...anyone have experience with these or other affordable methods that actually work?
I've tried both bubble wrap and plastic film kits, and honestly, the plastic film is way better. Bubble wrap does help a bit, but it looks kinda tacky and doesn't seal as tightly. The plastic film kits are pretty cheap, easy to install (just need a hairdryer), and they genuinely cut down drafts. Last winter I did my whole apartment, and it made a noticeable difference—no more indoor breezes, lol. Maybe give one window a test run first to see how you like it?
You're spot on about the plastic film kits—they're surprisingly effective for how simple they are. I've recommended them to clients before, especially renters who can't do permanent fixes. Bubble wrap's okay in a pinch, but yeah... not exactly a look you'd want long-term.

Haha, totally agree on the bubble wrap—tried it once in my old apartment and felt like I was living inside a shipping box. The plastic film kits are decent, but has anyone tried thermal curtains? I've been reading up on them lately and they seem promising. Curious if they're worth the extra cost compared to the film kits, especially since I'm looking for something that'll last more than one winter...
