Got Foggy Windows—Anyone Know If Warranty Covers This?

I've got these double-pane windows in my house (installed about 7 years ago), and lately I've noticed some fogging happening between the panes. At first, I thought it was just condensation on the outside, but nope—it's definitely trapped inside. Looks kinda gross, honestly.

Anyway, I did a little digging online and found out it's usually due to the seal breaking down between the panes. Apparently moisture sneaks in there, and boom—you've got yourself a foggy mess. Some sites said this could be covered under warranty, depending on the window manufacturer or installer.

So here's what I've done so far: first I checked all my paperwork (miraculously found it stuffed in a drawer), and it says there's a 10-year limited warranty on "seal failure." Sounds promising, right? Next step was calling up the installer company. They asked me to send photos of the fogging, plus proof of purchase and installation date. Fair enough.

I snapped some pics (harder than you'd think to get clear shots of foggy glass, lol), sent everything over by email, and now I'm waiting to hear back. Fingers crossed they don't pull some "this isn't covered because..." nonsense.

While I'm waiting though—anyone else dealt with this before? Did your warranty actually cover fixing or replacing fogged-up windows? Or maybe you figured out another way around this without going through warranty hassle...I'm all ears if you've got tips or better ideas.

You're definitely on the right track with the warranty route. Most reputable companies will honor that 10-year seal failure warranty, especially if you've got clear proof like you described. I've seen plenty of customers get their foggy panes replaced without much hassle—just depends on the installer’s responsiveness. Hang tight, you're doing everything right... odds are they'll sort it out for you without too much fuss.
