anyone else dealing with foggy windows every morning?
Discussion options
Okay, so lately I've noticed my windows are getting super foggy on the inside every single morning. It's driving me nuts because wiping them down constantly is getting old real fast. I tried cracking open a window overnight, but um...it's freezing outside, so that's not exactly ideal, you know?
Anyway, I'm curious how everyone else handles this. Quick poll time - what's your go-to method for dealing with window condensation?
A) Just wipe it down every morning (ugh)
B) Run a dehumidifier overnight
C) Open windows slightly (even if it's cold)
D) Use moisture absorbers like those silica gel thingies
E) Honestly, just ignore it and hope it goes away on its own
Personally, I'm leaning towards trying out a dehumidifier but not sure if it's worth the investment. Anyone had luck with that? Or maybe there's some genius hack I'm totally missing here...

I've been using a dehumidifier for a couple winters now and honestly, it's been a game changer. Just set it up in the evening, empty it in the morning - no more wiping windows. Totally worth it imo.

Totally agree, a dehumidifier made a huge difference for us too. Before getting one, I remember waking up every morning to windows dripping wet, towels at the ready...it was honestly such a hassle. We tried all the usual tips - opening windows for ventilation, those moisture-absorbing packets, even leaving the bathroom fan running longer - but nothing really solved it completely.
Since we started using a dehumidifier, mornings have been way less stressful. Plus, I've noticed the house feels warmer overall, probably because dry air heats up faster than damp air? Not sure about the science behind it, but it definitely feels cozier. Only downside is remembering to empty the tank regularly, but that's a small price to pay compared to dealing with soggy window sills every day.
We had the same issue last winter, and honestly, a dehumidifier was the only thing that worked long-term. Before that, I tried everything - those little moisture traps from the hardware store, cracking windows open (which made the bedroom freezing), even wiping down windows at midnight to avoid waking up to puddles. Didn't notice much difference in warmth personally, but definitely less mold forming around the frames, so that's a win in my book.
