I've had Andersen windows in my house for about 8 years now, and overall they've been pretty solid. But recently, one of the windows started fogging up between the panes, which is kinda annoying since they're supposed to be sealed and all. Anyway, I remembered they have a warranty, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

The claim process wasn't too bad actually, but it did take longer than I expected—had to send in some pics and proof of purchase, wait for them to review everything. Eventually, they agreed to replace the pane, but I still had to cover labor costs, which was a bit of a bummer. I mean, better than nothing, right? But still felt like it could've been smoother.

Curious if anyone else has dealt with Andersen warranty claims—did you find it easy or was it kind of a hassle? Wondering if my experience was typical or if I just got unlucky...

Yeah, that's pretty typical from what I've seen. Andersen's warranty is decent overall, but labor usually isn't covered after the first couple years. I've helped clients through this process before—sending in photos and paperwork is standard procedure. One tip: if you have multiple windows installed around the same time, keep an eye on them...sometimes when one seal goes, others aren't far behind.

Yeah, that's been my experience too. Andersen's warranty is solid on paper, but the labor costs can catch people off guard—especially if you're a few years out from installation. I've noticed that seals failing around the same timeframe is pretty common, especially if the windows face harsh sun exposure or temperature swings. Had a client last year who replaced one pane under warranty, and within six months, two more started fogging up. It wasn't fun breaking the news they'd have to cover labor again.

One thing I'd recommend is checking your original install paperwork carefully. Sometimes installers offer their own labor warranty separate from Andersen's, and it can stretch a bit longer than you'd expect. Might save you some hassle (and cash) if another window decides to go soon...

Yeah, totally agree with this. I've seen similar issues pop up, especially on south-facing windows where the sun just bakes them day after day. One thing I've found helpful is adding exterior shading or reflective films—cuts down on thermal stress and can extend seal life quite a bit. Doesn't solve the warranty hassle, but might save you from dealing with it again anytime soon...

Yeah, I've had Andersen windows for about 10 years now, and honestly, the warranty process was kind of a mixed bag for me too. Had a similar issue with fogging between panes on one of my west-facing windows—probably from all the afternoon sun beating down on it. The claim itself wasn't overly complicated, but it did drag out longer than I expected. Had to jump through hoops sending photos and receipts, then wait around while they reviewed everything.

In the end, they replaced the glass pane under warranty, but like you mentioned, labor costs were still on me. Felt a bit frustrating since you'd think labor would be covered if it's clearly a manufacturing defect. But I guess that's pretty standard practice these days.

I do agree with the suggestion about shading or reflective films though—after dealing with this hassle once, I'm definitely considering something like that to avoid going through it again anytime soon...
