Been thinking about replacing the windows in my house, and I'm kinda stuck between vinyl and aluminum. I've heard aluminum is pretty durable and can handle weather extremes better, but then again, some folks say vinyl is easier to maintain and doesn't fade or corrode as much. My neighbor swears by aluminum—he's had his for like 20 years and they still look decent—but my cousin just got vinyl ones installed last year and says they're way better at insulating.
I dunno, seems like both have their pros and cons. I'm leaning toward aluminum because durability matters a lot to me (I don't wanna be replacing windows again anytime soon, you know?), but if vinyl really does hold up just as well without needing much upkeep, maybe that's the smarter choice.
Anyone here have experience with either type long-term? Curious which you'd pick if you were doing it all over again.

Had aluminum windows at our old place for about 15 years. They were super durable, no doubt, but honestly, the insulation wasn't great. Winters felt colder near the windows, and condensation was a regular issue. Switched to vinyl in our current home—definitely warmer and quieter inside. Wondering though, has anyone noticed vinyl discoloring or warping after several hot summers?
